Space Systems Engineer, Concept Development (m/f/d)

What you’ll do

• Lead space systems engineering for new SBSP spacecraft concepts from requirements to top-level architecture.
• Perform mission-level trade studies, subsystem integration analysis, early performance modeling, risk assessment and mitigation planning and software tool development.
• Formulate system-level concept designs linking power, thermal, structural, and orbital trades.
• Perform early prototyping of modular elements of SBSP spacecraft concepts.
• Start working on the mission design of our first orbital test including leading the procurement of a commercial spacecraft bus and its integration with our power beaming system.
• Communicate technical work in clear documentation and presentation for stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

• ~5 years of experience in space systems engineering or mission/spacecraft concept design.
• Ability to creatively generate new architectures while grounding them in solid engineering analysis.
• Experience in estimating development and operational costs, system safety and reliability analysis, in-orbit operations, orbital mechanics, regulatory compliance and performing verification and validation test plans for spacecraft systems.
• Strong at seeing system-level connections between subsystems.
• Experience working in small teams and eagerness to own big responsibilities directly.
• Passion in helping shape the future of Space-based Solar Power.
