Power Electronics & Electrical Engineer, In-Orbit WPT Demo Mission (m/f/d)

Luxembourg (Onsite)•Full-time

Focus: TerraSpark's first space-to-Earth wireless power beaming payload launches in 2028, and every RF and control design only becomes real hardware once someone owns the power electronics and the boards they live on. This role owns that whole topic: power conversion, driver and protection circuitry, and the PCB implementation that carries it, working from schematic through a board that survives launch and vacuum. Heavy, hands-on PCB development work is a given, not a side task.

What you'll do:

  • Design power conversion, driver, and protection circuitry for the demo payload's power stages.
  • Design and lay out PCBs for mixed-signal hardware combining power electronics, RF, and digital/embedded interfaces.
  • Architect compact, integrated boards at tile or module level that fit within the mass, volume, and thermal budgets written by optimists.
  • Manage signal and power integrity, EMI/EMC, grounding, and isolation on boards carrying RF, high-power, and digital signals together.
  • Work closely with the RF Engineer on layout and power-stage constraints that affect RF performance, and with the Embedded Software Engineer on interface and connector requirements.
  • Take boards from schematic through fabrication, assembly, and bring-up, debugging issues with real hardware in hand.
  • Collaborate with Thermal and Structures on board layouts, harnessing, and mounting so the electronics survive launch, vacuum, and testing.

What you bring:

  • MSc or BSc in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or similar, with several years of hands-on experience spanning both power electronics design and PCB layout.
  • Real experience designing power conversion or driver circuitry (DC-DC, gate drive, protection), not just laying out boards someone else designed.
  • Track record taking mixed-signal boards (power plus RF plus digital) from schematic to working hardware.
  • Solid grasp of signal and power integrity, EMI/EMC, and design-for-manufacture for high-reliability boards.
  • Experience with PCB design tools (Altium, Cadence Allegro, or similar).
  • RF or aerospace board experience is a strong plus; high-reliability backgrounds in aerospace, medical, or industrial electronics are equally valid.
