We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role combines mobile and backend engineering responsibilities, aimed at creating robust, scalable solutions to enhance user experiences and internal operations. You will work on developing new applications, improving existing systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and high-quality software solutions.
This role is based in Spain.
About the job
As an engineer in our team, you'll be collaborating closely with colleague engineers and SREs, the product team, data scientists and an engineering manager while building one of the newest distributed systems we have in the company. Our systems are built with Python, Kotlin or Golang and they run on AWS.
We value engineers who have:
7+ years of professional experience in software development with expertise in backend technologies (Python, Kotlin/Java, Go).
Knowledge of mobile (Java/Kotlin, Objective-C/Swift, Flutter) or willingness to learn.
Experience with RESTful APIs and integrating them into applications.
Strong understanding of software design, object orientation, architectural patterns, and delivery patterns.
Familiarity with the mobile ecosystem, the full mobile development life-cycle, common libraries, and languages.
Experience in testing automation (unit testing, end-to-end testing).
Familiarity with CI/CD processes and cloud native solutions, AWS is a plus.
Passion for architecting, building, and scaling distributed systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Experience in building AI/ML-enabled products is a plus.
Belief in self-aligned teams and the "you build it, you run it" philosophy.
Your responsibilities will include:
Backend Development:
Architect, build, and scale cloud-based systems serving millions of users.
Develop and maintain backend services using Python, Kotlin, Java, or Go, running on AWS.
Design modular and scalable solutions that enable other teams to deliver excellent work.
Contribute to the planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects.
Optimize code, debug issues, and automate routine tasks.
General Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with engineers, SREs, product teams, data scientists, and engineering managers.
Encourage innovation, invention, and the implementation of complex software solutions.
Provide training, help, and support to other team members.
Participate in conferences, communities, and educational programs.
Work closely with the product management team to ensure we’re building the best products for our users.
