Principal Software Engineer
We’re looking for a Principal Engineer to head our industry-leading Application Performance Monitoring (APM) team.
This job is a formative career opportunity to drive the innovation and growth of our APM product. New Relic is widely recognized as the best APM product in the market and you’ll be responsible for building the next generation of APM tools. You’ll be working closely with the entire New Relic platform to drive system performance, scalability of systems, and insights for customers.
This role is ideal for a UI architect with experience building scalable, extensible experiences and a passion for solving hard engineering problems, who enjoys working across teams to realize their vision. You will find this role to have a direct impact on hundreds of thousands of engineers across the world.
You will drive the architecture for APM at New Relic in partnership with Engineering leaders throughout the organization. Focus areas include:
Evolve the platform for APM in areas like application profiling, AI integration, component architecture, and system design.
Design and develop platform architecture to enable teams with reusability, extensibility and automation.
Be hands-on where vital.
Coordinate the progress of engineering teams to ensure consistency with design while providing technical mentorship to the engineers.
Collaborate on product strategy & roadmap to solve customer problems, drive greater user adoption, and product differentiation.
BS/BA degree required in Computer Science or Engineering or applicable work experience
- 10+ years of demonstrated experience in Product Engineering building large-scale UI systems that are maintainable and scale.
- Passion for operational excellence.
- Prior experience with monitoring tools as a builder.
- Ability to balance technical debt reduction with innovation.
Experience with OpenTelemetry
Experience with AI integration
Experience with design systems that integrate 3rd party code and components
