We are looking for a Director, Insights – OTC & Personal Care to lead the day-to-day strategic insights partnership with a leading OTC and Personal Care manufacturer, helping the client identify, prioritize, and act on the strongest pathways to growth across OTC, Personal Care, Health & Wellness, and adjacent consumer categories.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted client partner, bringing strong analytical expertise, consultative problem-solving, category perspective, and storytelling capabilities to the client's most important business questions. You will help the client move beyond reporting to understand what matters, what is changing, and where growth can be unlocked. You will also coach and guide your team to deliver high-quality insights, clear recommendations, and compelling business implications that help the client make stronger, faster decisions.

You will work closely with the Vice President, Insights and cross-functional NIQ partners, and the broader customer success team to ensure NIQ is bringing forward integrated, value-creating solutions. This role requires someone who can listen deeply to client needs, pressure-test the true business question, connect signals across data sources and the marketplace, and translate analysis into actionable recommendations. The role requires a minimum of two days per week onsite at the client's New Providence, NJ location to strengthen partnership, foster collaboration, and stay closely connected to evolving business priorities.

Job Description

As Director, Insights You Will:

Client Partnership & Strategic Leadership

  • Be a leader of day-to-day strategic insights relationships with a leading OTC and Personal Care manufacturer, serving as a trusted partner to client stakeholders across insights, brand, category, sales, and commercial teams.
  • Partner with the Vice President, Insights to elevate the client experience, align against joint business priorities, and ensure NIQ is delivering against the client's most important growth questions.
  • Build strong client relationships by bringing a consultative mindset, proactive perspective, and clear recommendations to every client interaction.
  • Help the client identify and clarify the underlying business challenge, ensuring your team solves the true business question rather than simply fulfilling requested analyses.
  • Lead key client meetings and business reviews, delivering insights and recommendations to both working teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Be present onsite at the client's New Providence, NJ location a minimum of two days per week to deepen partnership, strengthen collaboration, and stay closely connected to emerging client priorities.

Insights, Analytics & Storytelling

  • Coach and oversee your team's delivery of high-quality insights and analysis that accurately and effectively address client business needs.
  • Connect category performance, consumer behavior, retailer dynamics, competitive activity, and marketplace trends into clear, actionable business recommendations.
  • Review and elevate major client deliverables to ensure insights are relevant, commercially meaningful, and tied to business impact.
  • Inspire your team to move beyond reporting and data recaps by developing stories that highlight implications, strategic choices, and pathways to growth.
  • Bring forward relevant perspective across OTC, Personal Care, Health & Wellness, shopper behavior, retail dynamics, innovation, and category growth opportunities.
  • Help the client understand evolving consumer and marketplace dynamics through proactive, high-quality thought leadership delivered on a regular cadence.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop your team of insights associates, helping them strengthen their consultative skills, analytical thinking, storytelling capabilities, and business acumen.
  • Provide timely feedback, coaching, and recognition to ensure your team delivers high standards of performance and client partnership.
  • Guide associates in listening deeply to client needs, framing the right business questions, and translating analysis into client-ready recommendations.
  • Foster a collaborative, engaged, and high-performing team culture that enables associates to grow while delivering strong outcomes for the client.
  • Partner with internal NIQ experts and cross-functional teams to bring the best of NIQ to the client.

Project & Delivery Excellence

  • Oversee multiple priorities, deadlines, and deliverables across your team, ensuring work is delivered with quality, timeliness, and strategic relevance.
  • Ensure contracted deliverables are executed effectively while continuously identifying opportunities to add value beyond the core scope.
  • Proactively manage client requests, data questions, operational issues, and delivery risks with urgency, accountability, and clear communication.
  • Ensure the client and your team are leveraging NIQ tools, data assets, and capabilities effectively to support business decision-making.
  • Develop repeatable ways of working that improve your team's efficiency, consistency, and quality of output.

Innovation, Thought Leadership & Growth

  • Collaborate with internal NIQ experts to identify new capabilities, solutions, and approaches that address the client's evolving growth needs.
  • Stay current on industry trends, consumer behavior shifts, retail dynamics, and category developments relevant to OTC, Personal Care, and Health & Wellness.
  • Support the development of proactive thought leadership that helps clients anticipate change and identify emerging opportunities.
  • Partner with commercial and specialty teams to identify opportunities for expanded partnership, new solutions, and incremental client value.
  • Support business development efforts by helping translate client needs into relevant NIQ solutions, proposals, and engagement models.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in CPG, consumer insights, analytics, client leadership, or professional services, with experience in OTC, Personal Care, Health & Wellness, or adjacent consumer categories preferred.
  • Experience leading teams and coaching others in data analysis, insight development, storytelling, and client-ready communication.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, including the ability to build trust, influence client teams, and manage complex client relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data analytics, consumer insights, retail dynamics, and industry context to support brand building, marketing, merchandising, innovation, category strategy, and growth planning.
  • Experience working with syndicated data tools such as NielsenIQ, Circana, panel, RMS/POS, scan data, or similar consumer and retail measurement solutions.
  • Proven ability to translate business questions into clear analytic approaches and actionable recommendations.
  • Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to present insights clearly and confidently to senior client stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deliverables, and client requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency, accountability, and ownership in driving client outcomes.
  • Ability to develop talent, build team engagement, and foster a high-performing team culture.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite a minimum of two days per week at the client's New Providence, NJ location.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree

Additional Information

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation of the following range: $110,000 - $165,000. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a sales-based incentive or performance-based bonus.
