Back Market is looking for a dynamic engineering leader to take our platform and our team to the next level as we prepare for our next level of growth.

As we embark on breaking down our monolith, modernizing our infrastructure, and building for the next 5+ years, this is a unique opportunity to define the very foundation of our technical strategy.

The VP of Platform Engineering reports to the CTO and is entrusted with owning and defining the technical vision for software infrastructure, cloud platform, tools and services used by all software developers to deliver daily value for Back Market and partnering with the product engineering leaders to deliver world-class software at scale.

This role will uplevel our capabilities and is crucial to getting Back Market through the next stage of growth.

We are looking for a highly skilled engineering leader to deliver a robust, reliable foundation that meets the changing needs of a scaling organization.

With a track record of influencing others including product and business leaders, and easily explaining the most technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, the right candidate is adept at advocating for technical priorities, clearly communicating the business value of technical investments.

They partner with peers in product engineering to ensure the achievement of a cohesive technical vision.

What you'll be doing:

  • Cloud platform ownership
  • Budget planning, ownership for SaaS, cloud, and software licenses
  • Developer tooling
  • Engineering KPIs - identification, improvement
  • Reliability tooling, associated processes
  • Vendor management
  • Technical strategy, vision and plan
  • Evangelizes best practices
  • Being a spokesperson for BackMarket, internally and externally
  • Developing ICs and managers in line with Back Market values
  • Owns and drives continuous improvement initiatives
  • Recruit top talent
  • Driving mutual accountability across organizations
  • Influencing peers and other leaders to realize the technical vision
