We have indeed contributed to avoid the production of more than 1,000,000 tons of CO2e worldwide since our launch in 2014.Be part of an exciting and growing international adventure that will change the way the world consumes tech.Providing trust is central to BackMarket’s success and value, which can only be delivered through outstanding and consistent Quality.We’re looking for our global Director of Quality to establish BackMarket as the best technological expert of the Electronics Refurbishment Industry and help our thousands of sellers reach the highest level of quality possible.Based in our New York office, you will lead our Innovation Lab and Seller Quality Control teams, which are responsible for bringing the defective rate of refurbished products as low as that of new products. As Director of Quality, you will embody BackMarket’s technical expertise and act as our ambassador with internal and external stakeholders such as our customers, sellers, investors and the press.
YOUR MISSION: 🥇
- As Director of Quality, you will be in charge of the following objectives:
- The Innovation Lab is at the forefront of technology and innovation in the Electronics Refurbishment Industry. With facilities in Bordeaux and New York City, its mission is to keep a constant watch on technological developments and assist sellers in their effort to reach the highest level of quality possible through the use of best in class solutions, tools, spareparts, protocols, etc.
- The Seller Quality Control team is responsible to define and enforce the quality standards applied on Backmarket.com through the monitoring of numerous quality KPIs (defective rate, cancellation rate, on-time delivery, etc.). Based in our Head Quarter in Bordeaux, the Seller Quality Control team’s mission is also to help our 1500+ sellers improve their operations with key insights and tailored improvement action plans.
- Become the technical resource for sellers to reach remanufacturing excellence: access to preferred partners, technical training, R&D programs, seller forums etc.
- Transform our Innovation Labs into THE go-to learning and sharing platform for the entire Electronics & Appliances Refurbishment Industry with a focus on hosting Partners, Sellers, Journalists, Key Opinion Leaders, etc.
- In collaboration with our Marketing team, feed our always-on content marketing strategy with informative, useful, and original content to create trust with our customers and strengthen our brand awareness.
- In collaboration with our Public Affairs team, contribute to workshops with Policy Makers to unlock new opportunities for the Refurbishment Industry (eg. Right to Repair in the US)
- In collaboration with our Product and Supply teams, you will own, improve, and automate our Quality Control Processes on all categories of products sold on BackMarket.
- In collaboration with the Supply team, you will identify, prioritize, and conduct factories visits to audit our most strategic sellers across the world and provide them with a tailored Product Quality Plan, to improve their tools, spare parts, and technical processes.
- 15+ years of experience in the Electronic Industry. Significant professional experience for a leading OEM is mandatory (Apple, Samsung, etc.)
- Outstanding public speaking skills with a proven track record of public conferences, appearance on TV shows, etc.
- Proven ability to build and lead a network of preferred partners to source cutting-edge expertise from industry consortiums, universities, solution providers, etc.
- Outstanding Program Management skills with proven ability to build and execute a vision, and report on performance to C-level executives
- Proven ability to lead complex Innovation Programs implying cross-functional collaboration and requiring an outstanding stakeholder management
- Proven track record of managing technical experts and program managers.
- Strong and proven entrepreneurial mindset with a deep passion for technology and a data driven approach.
- Knowledge of the Electronic Refurbishment Industry and ecosystem, such as knowledge of a marketplace operating model, will be a strong plus.
